My thoughts about going "sugar free" for 17 days: I stared at a brownie last night for an entire 30 minutes. It was more painful then when my first cat Huckleberry died.
Am: coffee Lunch: avocado salad with lemon pepper chicken Dinner: fish and eggplant
Sugar reacts like drugs , so when you don't have it . It could get you in variety of mood swings . But not having sugar or salt on foods , it takes more then a month to adjust. It's very possible for anyone to do it. But it really do suck , due to the mood swings . Blessing to all! !!
the mood swings could also be attributed to blood sugar (nothing to do with actual sugar). For example a day like yesterday for you is super super low calorie, with almost no carbs. a piece of fruit in the morning and mid afternoon might make all the difference for your mood, and is much more sustainable after the challenge!
i agree that you do go through several mood swings and I have gone thru them all in the past 17 days....it is doable but also a challenge within itself. your mind tells you to eat wrong but then you think twice and think about the goal you want to achieve so just walk away from the temptation. i like the results i am getting as far as going down in size, so its working and I plan to stick to the routine well after the 30 days. Thanks
I didn't realize how many foods that I eat on a day to day basis have so much sugar and sodium in it I cannot lie my mood swing has not been the best since I started this diet let me rephrase that life change.
Breakfast- Fiesta Bowl- Ground pork, onions, peppers. Lunch-Cauliflower “fried rice” Dinner-Chicken salad with grapes (no mayo-dijon mustard) 4-6 22oz bottles of water (1/4 orange, and 4 strawberries)
ahhaha that's a great question, in the beginning I was really sleepy and moody I believe that is the sugar and caffeine shortage (I cannot drink black coffee). I am okay now, not as high energy as I have heard others mention but not so cranky. I do get resentful for the people around me who are eating chocolate and junk food. I went to a kids birthday party at cicis pizza and resisted cheating, I almost cried in my car when we left. not eating pizza is worse than the sugar.

The sugar withdrawls were crazy the first week and into the second. I don't think I've had migraines that bad in my life. I have been drinking black coffee but when I don't, I get headaches, as well. It's crazy to see how my body reacts to the slightest changes in diet. My energy has been steadily increasing daily and I have more energy at night now. Before we started this, going home meant laying out from how exhausted I was from the day. Now, I get home, cook and clean, go to school, hang out, and then hit bed when I'm exhausted. I agree with Arielle about pizza being harder than giving up sugar. At this point though, I can't really think of what my first meal will be after because I'm really enjoying all the recipes and things Arielle and I have been eating. It's been a welcome change and a great experience.

No sugar has had me a little moody , but I will agree that I have more energy and I am not as sluggish as I used to be after a meal.
